The deadline to enter is January 31, 2026. We will not accept any entries after this day. Entrants will be notified of their acceptance (or not) into the show. All participants must be at BIMA on April 26, 2025 no later than 5:00 with their completed project to be eligible to participate in the fashion show and be eligible for prizes.
Guidelines: Pants and Pockets Birthday Party Shoddy Challenge Rotary Challenge
You must be available for the show on April 26, 2026, at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, and checked in by 5 pm.
You may work individually or as a team.
These items need to be created from repurposed fabrics including scraps, thrifted clothing, and deadstock. You may use some new notions, but these should be limited. The point is to be creative. Think outside the box store. No internet ordering. You may alter the fabrics by surface design of any kind including dyeing, but it should be low on toxic chemicals.
Models must be able to move around freely and sit down in their outfit.
All designers, if chosen, must provide their own models. Diverse models encouraged – all ages, gender, and ethnicity.
If your item is not clothing, it will need to be displayed at the show by you or your representative.

Pick-up of materials for those doing the Shoddy and Rotary challenges will be at Esther's Fabrics from February 8-28 during business hours.
Guidelines: Mystery Box Sew-in Day Challenge (maximum 14 participants)
Show up at the Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network, or BARN, on March 29, 2026, starting at 10am.
You will be provided with a box of clean, secondhand materials at the beginning of the day and may work until 5pm.
Items not finished by the end of the day will need to be completed by walk-through day [date TBD] at BIMA.
Work either individually or as part of a team.
Create one cohesive outfit or a useful home item (dog bed?, quilt?, etc.). If you create an outfit, you will need to provide a model for the show on April 26 at BIMA. If your item is not clothing, it will need to be displayed at the show by you or your representative.
All participants must be checked in at BIMA by 5:00 on April 26 in order to qualify for prizes and the show.
If you do not provide your own sewing machine, you will need to either provide proof of sewing machine orientation at BARN, or attend a sewing machine orientation at the BARN before the Sew-In Day.
